Firefly Media Server, originally known as mt-daapd, is an open-source audio streaming solution developed by Ron Pedde. Designed for platforms like Linux, Windows, and macOS, it enables seamless sharing of music libraries across networks, supporting formats such as MP3, AAC, Ogg, FLAC, and WMA. Notably, it integrates with iTunes and serves media to devices like the Roku SoundBridge via the Roku Server Protocol (RSP) and Digital Audio Access Protocol (DAAP). Despite its innovative features, active development ceased years ago, leading to forks like OwnTone Server, which continue its legacy.
