SALT overview

Salt is a Python-based, open-source software designed for event-driven IT automation, remote task execution, and configuration management. It employs a master-client model, where the master node issues commands to client nodes (minions) for efficient system management. Salt supports the "infrastructure as code" approach, facilitating data center system and network deployment and management. Its modular design allows for easy extensibility, catering to diverse enterprise IT use cases. The system utilizes ZeroMQ messaging for high-speed requirements, ensuring rapid data collection and task execution. Salt's architecture includes various modules such as execution modules, state modules, and renderer modules, each serving specific functions within the system.
